SALARY WILL BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT PAY POLICY.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • The incumbent in this position serves as liaison between the Department of Corrections and the partner correctional facility to include attending meetings and instructing staff on issues relating to the Classification Department at the partner facility as well as coordinates activities between Central Office and the partner facility.
  • Responsible for performing the duties assigned to Department of Corrections Classification Supervisors regarding all inmate releases.
    Will complete Warden level review and signature on DC6-168A and DC6-159.
  • Serves as final approving authority on medium and close custody classification decisions.
    Works in conjunction with the State Classification Office on all modified and reduced custody decisions.
  • Serves as final approving authority for gain time application.
  • Serves as a member of the Institutional Classification Team (ICT) member for the Department of Corrections, providing input to Region Office and/or State Classification Office regarding inmate transfers.
  • Reviews all disciplinary reports, making recommendations for penalty or disposition changes if necessary to ensure compliance with Department of Corrections' policy.
  • Review all recommendations or information provided to the Parole Commission by partner facility staff with respect to the denial or granting of parole, control release, conditional release, or conditional medical release to ensure compliance with Department of Corrections' policy.
  • Review all furlough requests and requests for temporary release of custody prior to forwarding for region office decision.
    Ensure all required information is included to facilitate Region Office review and decision.
  • Make final determination of all inmate job assignments.
    Serve as a member of the ICT on job assignments with security concerns whenever possible.
    Review all job assignments and take corrective action if necessary to maintain compliance with Department of Corrections policy.
  • Serve as a resource for partner facility staff regarding the interpretation of rules, policies and procedures to assure proper implementation.
  • Answers correspondence and/or telephone calls from inmate families and/or other interested parties, responds to inmate requests/grievances, and perform FCIC/NCIC inquiries for visitation, reduced custody or community placements as needed to assist partner facility staff.
  • Serves as the liaison between the partner facility and Region Office during emergencies, completing any tasks assigned on the EM Website.
    Serves as assigned by Region Office EOC during any emergency when the partner facility is not assigned.

  • Ability to organize data into logical format for presentation in reports, documents and other written materials.
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to communicate with third party.
  • Knowledge of Emergency Management Application

Required Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or its equivalent
  • Must be previously or currently in the position as a Senior Classification Release Officer with at least 1-2 years of Release Officer experience.
