JOB
Responsibilities: Properly collects, moves to the bio-hazardous storage closet, boxes and prepares for transportation, biomedical waste collected from service areas. Collects, safeguards and properly disposes of confidential information from service area ensuring all confidential trash is placed in the locked bins for contractor collection and shredding. Properly uses equipment and follows procedures and established techniques to ensure hospital floors, furniture and equipment are cleaned and well maintained. Performs final room cleaning upon a patient's discharge. Performs new patient room cleaning and makes bed 'first time'. Performs daily patient room and restroom cleaning ensuring both area are sanitary. Performs daily patient shower and bathtub room cleaning. Inspects these areas for mildew and if found, reports findings to supervisor.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Properly lifts, carries, pushes and pulls furniture and equipment. Weight of 80 lbs occasionally; 10 to 25 lbs frequently. Reaches above, below and at shoulder level. Grasps, handles and manipulates cleaning equipment on a frequent basis. Must be physically able to operate all housekeeping equipment used within the hospital. Dresses and maintains a neat and clean appearance and uses good personal hygiene.
